APPLICATION PROCESS

We are accepting applications for all 3 Camp Misawannees this summer:

July 4-5, 7-8 Day Camps at the Farm in Surrey

July 11-13 Overnight Camp in Victoria

August 7-14 Overnight Camp in Chilliwack

Staff Positions for 2023 will look something like this:

Day Camps: approx. 15 Staff

Victoria Camp: approx. 10 Staff

August Overnight: 

  • 10 Counsellors (Born 2006 or earlier)

  • 10 Counsellors in Training  (Born 2007 & 2008)

  • 4 LIT Counsellors

  • 6 Activity Staff (3 Directors / 3 Assistants)

  • Lifeguard

CIT Training Fee:  $250

Application Deadline: March 15, 2023

CAMP INFORMATION

Vancouver Day Camps 

July 4 & 7: 8:30-5:30. July 5 & 8: 12:30-9:30

Location: The Farm in Surrey

Victoria Overnight Camp

Arrive: Tuesday July 11 afternoon.

Depart: Thursday July 13 evening:

Location: The Dumas Residence, Sydney BC

Vancouver Overnight Camp

Arrive: Monday August 7 @ 6:30-7pm

Depart: Monday August 14, at 12:30pm. 

Location:  Charis Camp and Conference Centre, Chilliwack, BC (51935 Hack Brown Rd). 

 

All leaders are responsible for their transportation to and from camp however we work to car pool with other staff.

COUNSELLOR POSITIONS

Counsellors

  • Supervise a group of 6 campers;

  • Responsible for the care, safety and overall wellbeing of their campers at all times

  • Responsible for cabin preparation and cleanup at end of camp.

 

Nurse

  • Stocks and prepares a First Aid kit to bring to camp.

  • Keeps track of all medical forms and medication of campers and staff.

  • Informs staff of particular medical needs of any of their campers.

  • Must be available at all times to administer first aid or any medical attention that does not require a physician.

  • Identifies health and safety issues.

  • Nursing or advanced first aid certification required.

 

Sports leader

  • Plans and supervises all sports activities

  • Leads the Ropes Course, campfire activities, and other big group games.

 

Drama leader

  • Plans and supervises drama activities.

  • Oversees Talent Show and Skit Night.

 

Craft leader

  • Plans and supervises the craft activities.

  • Maintains a clean craft station throughout camp.

 

Lifeguard

  • Plans and supervises pool activities during camp

  • Stays on duty for all open pool times.

  • NLS required.

COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING POSITIONS

Counsellors in Training (CITs)

  • Assists Counsellors in supervising a group of 6 campers.

Craft Assistant

  • Plans and supervises the craft activities.

  • Maintains a clean craft station throughout camp.

 

Sports Assistant

  • Assists with planning and supervising all sports and campfire activities.

  • Assists in leading the Rope Course and other team building activities.

 

Lifeguard Assistant

  • Assists with planning and supervising all pool activities.

  • Assists in supervising open pool times.

 

Drama Assistant

  • Assists with planning and supervising all drama activities. 

  • Assists with Talent Show and Skit Night.
